The Yolo County YMCA is a non profit charitable organization for people of all ages and faiths united in a common effort to enrich the quality of the spiritual, mental and social life of their family, their community and themselves.
The Yolo County YMCA incorporates into the childcare program The National YMCA's program of "Character Counts". Your child will learn the values of Responsibility, Respect, Caring and Honesty.

WHO MAY ATTEND

  • A child needs to be between the ages of 2 and 5 years of age.
  • A child needs to be ready for the type of group experience the YMCA has to offer.
  • A child needs to be able to benefit from the program.

The Preschool and Day Care Program is a state licensed facility. The program follows strict regulations and Is monitored regularly by the state. Facility License #570305378

REGULAR HOURS
The childcare program is opened Monday through Friday from 6:45 AM 5:30 PM
The preschool program hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Extended care is available for an additional hourly fee.
There is a Preschool Summer Camp program during the summer months.

We are closed on the following legal holidays:

  • Memorial Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Day After Thanksgiving
  • *Day before Christmas and New Year's if they fall on a Tuesday
We are closed two days per year for staff prep days. It is usually the Friday after school is out in June and the Friday before school starts in August or September.

STAFF
The preschool and childcare director holds a supervision credential issued by the State of California. She is in charge of the daily operation of the center and supervises all staff members.
The teachers have extensive training and experience in early childhood education to provide your child with an excellent education.
We maintain a minimum teacher/child ration of 1:12 and often less depending on the activity and the age of the child.

GOALS *

  1. To support intellectual development that reinforces the child's educational needs.
  2. To foster acceptable social skills such as; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
  3. Encourage individual development of self-esteem and confidence.
  4. To teach children not to fear taking risks, making commitments, becoming involved, and being responsible.
*There is a Developmental Goals Checklist for each classroom. This outlines some of the areas your child's teacher will cover during the year.

TECHNIQUES

  • To provide a wide range of experiences that stimulates the child's desire to learn. The YMCA Preschool has a developmental goals checklist for each age group. Please ask for a copy.
  • To provide a wide range of positive social experiences and interpersonal interaction for each child.
  • To offer a variety of activities that allow the child to exercise and learn new physical skills.
  • To make the safety of the child a priority.
  • To understand each child's needs and maintain open communication with parents to strengthen the family unit
